Mamo #32: Pot Pourri Some Mo' Pourri

Keep out the winter blahs with another fine Mamo, in which our Super Bowl centric conversation ranges from the strange successes of that Camilla Belle chick, to the rather tame slate of "mission statement" movie ads at this year's show. And, of course, a much-needed retraction from the Matt who, erroneously as it turns out, proclaimed the Gospel on last week's show.

If it's not to difficult for you guys, a live Oscar show definitely sounds cool and I would certainly download the various pieces as they are made available. The Oscars can often be dry at times and so instead of channel surfing and seeing what else is on, I can turn down the volume and listen to the latest bit of Mamo!

Also something that I think you guys might find interesting, if you haven't already seen it, a Sleepless In Seattle trailer, cut to make it look like a horror movie also a Fight Club trailer, cut to make it look like a romantic comedy. Incredibly funny and really nails the point that a well-cut trailer can make a movie look like just about anything.

Hey matt, you sounded so sexy when you did the Hugo Weaving impersonation. Can't wait for the Oscar updates. BTW Last of the Mohicans made 75 mil domestic.

Love the podcast. I listen every week. but I have one question.

How do you encode your podcast?

I'm just wondering because I listen to it in my nintendo DS and yours and one other podcast I have to re-encode before I can play it. If I don't it plays at double speed. I'm trying to figure out why it does that.

Hey guys,

Still down with the Mamo. But not really down with that whole Oscars thing to be honest. My reasons? Well I think the main one is that there is such a thing as an "Oscar Movie", the Oscars strike me as being more about the Oscars than about the rest of the movie business. How a straight genre flick can become a genre flop or how an offbeat genre flick becomes a global dominator are my bread and butter. I love that stuff. As to who's going to win Most Irritatingly Worthy Performance, that's not how I roll. Make of that commentary what you will.

Incidentally I have had an idea for a t-shirt design that I think just about sums up what Mamo is all about. Ironically the idea was sparked during your conversation about Katie Holmes nudity in this 'cast (already people may know where I'm going with this).

If you're interested I can run up a test image but I'm going to need some help. Get me as if so.

As always stellar stuff.
