Mamo #84: And that was without a single drop of rum

Pirates arrives, guns blazing - and at least one Matt is willing to call it his favourite thing ever. Sailing against stiff competition the numbers are still respectable out of the gate, but how long can it hold in the ever-deepening tidal wavefront of the summer of 2007? Wait: what's a tidal wavefront?

I've seen the movie three times now. Does that make me strange? Because if it does, I don't mind.

Star of the movie for me (other than the monkey, of course), was Geoffrey Rush.

If Transformers is half as good as the trailers make it out be, Michael Bay *may* have redeemed himself in my eyes. Okay, maybe not. Damn Michael Bay.

Also, hope you enjoyed your breakfast at Golden Griddle. It sounded good on the podcast.

Was there a lot of slurping and chewing? I was really worried about that. :)

Myeh, Pirates was okay. Too long, and trying to do too much with too little. And why oh why did they get Keith Richards in on it, I struggled to watch every scene he was in.
I agree with the Rush comment, he certainly steals the show (perhaps my aussie bias?) though I was left wanting more of Yun-Fat, not that he was that great, but maybe he could have been given more of the screen.
I have to agree to disagree with the fact that every character decision was justified, there was some bizzare character decisions in there, not to mention the Calypso conundrum...

With all that said, I liked it more than it sounds I liked it, even though some of it seemed as though it was written while on crack, the 'in limbo' sequence for Depp actually paid off.
Anyways, keen to hear what others have to say.

everybody agrees its the best of the 3quels so far. I also thought that Rush was funny as hell. Did you guys stay through the credits for the last scene? I hope you did.

Oh hell yeah. It's all about that last scene. Actually everybody made to get up from their seats when the credits rolled and I just barked "STAY SEATED - THEY ALWAYS DO SOMETHING AFTER THE CREDITS." :)
