The backlash to TDK is minor compared to what happened to Juno. The Juno backlash was enormous, with a lot of it aimed at Diablo Cody. I haven't met anyone yet who didn't enjoy TDK. The audience makeup is amazing, black, white, asian, old, young, just across the board. Also everytime that I 've seen it the audience has clapped at the end.
I had the same experience with Titanic.

The backlash with the Spirit I think is extending to just about anything Frank Miller is doing right now. He's sort of becoming the George Lucas of comics, where at one time everything he did was highly praised, but now people wish he would just stop making such bad comics.

Speaking of Lucas did anyone see the article linked from AICN where in an interview Lucas mentioned that he an Spielberg were both trying to push Indy 4 in two very separate directions? Those few lines in that interview really explained a lot of how Indy 4 ended up the way it did.

Also I'm surprised you guys haven't brought up Joss Whedon's Doctor Horrible. It's no where on the scale of something like the Dark Knight, but the fact that someone from Hollywood funded their own short film to be released on the internet is pretty big. Especially as it's proven to be quite a success so far, that it could be a sign of things to come.
